چکیده

Recent advances in single-photon-counting detectors are enabling the development of novel approaches to reach micrometer-scale resolution in x-ray imaging. One example of such a technology are the MEDIPIX3RX-based detectors, such as the LAMBDA which can be operated with a small pixel size in combination with real-time on-chip charge-sharing correction. This characteristic results in a close to ideal, box-like point spread function which we made use of in this study. The proposed method is based on raster-scanning the sample with sub-pixel sized steps in front of the detector. Subsequently, a deconvolution algorithm is employed to compensate for blurring introduced by the overlap of pixels with a well defined point spread function during the raster-scanning. The presented approach utilizes standard laboratory x-ray equipment while we report resolutions close to 10 μm. The achieved resolution is shown to follow the relationship [Formula: see text] with the pixel-size p of the detector and the number of raster-scanning steps n.

Attainment of <60nm Resolution in Phase-Contrast X-ray Microscopy using an add-on to an SEM

Laboratory-based phase-contrast microscopy is a practical and versatile technique for X-ray imaging and tomography of a wide variety of samples. Using phase-retrieval techniques we can obtain quantitative information about the sample as well as making images easier to interpret. We have demonstrated resolution of <60nm in XuM imaging by coupling phase-retrieval with deconvolution methods for re...

The Synthesis of Zeolites A, X and HS from Natural Iranian Kaolinite and the Study of the Transformation of Zeolites X to HS and Zeolites Y to P by X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy.

Zeolites A, X and HS were synthesized from natural Iranian Kaolinite by alkaline fusion,,followed by refluxing the mixture. The transformation of zeolites X to HS and Y to P were studied at different time intervals by X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). It was revealed that in solution, zeolites HS and P are more stable than zeolites X and Y respectively

Self-consistent determination of the perpendicular strain profile of implanted Si by analysis of x-ray rocking curves

Results of a determination of strain perpendicular to the surface and of the damage in ( 100) Si single crystals irradiated by 250-keV Ar + ions at 77 K are presented. Double-crystal x-ray diffraction and dynamical x-ray diffraction theory are used. Trial strain and damage distributions were guided by transmission electron microscope observations and Monte Carlo simulation of ion energy deposit...

Phase retrieval in in-line x-ray phase contrast imaging based on total variation minimization.

State-of-the-art techniques for phase retrieval in propagation based X-ray phase-contrast imaging are aiming to solve an underdetermined linear system of equations. They commonly employ Tikhonov regularization - an L2-norm regularized deconvolution scheme - despite some of its limitations. We present a novel approach to phase retrieval based on Total Variation (TV) minimization. We incorporated...
